My Kitsuke teachers are from Sodo Kimono Dressing School. They are really kind and good at teaching. We enjoy not only practising but also talking informally..

First you start to learn how to dress in a Yukata. You need Hanhaba obi, Yukata and some band. If you don't have these things, we can lend them to you. You can also leave your Kimono baggage in the locker so that you can come empty-handed. After one or two months practice, you can dress in a Yukata by yourself.

Next you begin to learn how to dress I a wool Kimono. First you learn how to tie Hanhaba obi (which you learnt Yukata with) then after learn how to tie Nagoya obi. If you master the wool kimono, you can go out in a Kimono for casual occasions after 2 or 3 months practice.

Then you learn how to dress in a Kimono. You learn how to tie obi in various ways. Normally you don't need to use any special tools when you wear a Kimono. But it is impossible to do some kinds of obi tying by yourself. If you use Sugata, the special tool made by Sodo kimono Dressing School, you can do this obi tying well. We dress in silk Kimonos for formal occasion. If you master this level, you can go to parties like a wedding ceremony.

If you can dress in a kimono by yourself, you can also easily dress someone else. You can tie obi in various ways using just some of bands and strings.

Now I mainly learn how to dress others and tie special obi tying. We can practise any levels when we want to do. Before summer we can review how to dress Yukata. Before you attend a wedding ceremony, you can review how to dress a formal Kimono.

Practice is on three Thursdays a month at TOMONOS HIGASHIYODOGAWA (To see the map,CLICK HERE), Osaka. The fee is 3000 yen a month.

We also organize many occasions to go out in Kimonos together. The last two summers, we went to the Beer Gardens in Yukata. We have been to Kyoto in Kimonos, too. You can feel more comfortably when you dress by yourself in a Kimono than when you are dressed by someone else. We are often watched by everyone anywhere we go when we are dressed in Kimonos.

****We rent a Japanese style room of a public hall. The owner needs some limits of age and so on for users . So we are afraid that we have some occasions when you can't join us.
